Some say that motherhood is the most difficult job in the whole world. I agree to that. There is no formal training a woman undergoes to be prepared for this kind of role. Women became mothers because of various reasons, like unwanted/unplanned pregnancy, financial need, practical reason etc. Whatever the reason is, society already has expected you to carry such enormous responsibilities from the time you got pregnant until God-knows-when.
I, myself, was not prepared to become a mother. But because I accepted the responsibility, I've learned to adjust myself to fulfill the role. Since I live in one of the third world countries, I have to find a job to make both ends meet. Since I got married, my roles became three, being a mother, a wife and a worker.
My world revolves around these roles. It's tough if you have to leave the house and let your relatives take care of your kids while you're away from home. I feel guilty everytime I go to work.
I am not sure if those people whom I entrusted my children would give proper care and attention. They also have their lives of their own. They have things and errands to do. How I wish I would win in the lottery so that I could hire a househelp for the daily chores and I could attend to my children's needs personally. Yea, how I wish.
But everyday is a struggle. Sometimes, I would drag myself to work. I am working in a call center and the work shifting schedule varies. Most of the time, I am assigned to the night shift.
It's heart-breaking for me to hear one of my children begging me to stay in bed with them. They like it when I am with them while they're sleeping.
If only I could fine other means of income that could sustain our daily needs so that I can spend more time with my children and be a full-time mom.
I am thinking a lot of starting a small business that I really like. I'm planning to get into fashion accessories making. All I need is time and money for start-up capital. I hope before the year 2008 ends, I am already engaging into this type of business.
